Mount Everest

OCTOBER 27, 2014
Mount Everest in the Himalayas
and Beautiful Nepal

(Secondlife GPS: Mt. Everest 242, 60, 34)

Welcome to the first of many journeys through virtual world travels.

I decided to make the hardest journey the first. Mount Everest.  This is the worlds most deadliest mountain. Many have died trying to defeat this monster to get a feeling of accomplishing the impossible, only to have been left on this mountain.   Due to it being unsafe, it is near impossible to recover bodies and they are left in view of other climbers.  Many of the Nepalese have said that this mountain is cursed and choose not to climb it themselves.  We all seek to better ourselves and get a sense of achievement.  In way these poor men and women that have lost their lives trying to defeat Mt. Everest have done the impossible and have reached their achievement.  They will never be forgotten.

I give it a 6 because I wish that the rooms had beds in them as I like to feature hotels in my review.  This attraction was purely for the climb.   However it made for great pictures and a great story line.
Enjoy!

DAY 1:

I arrived 3 hours prior to departure to get my luggage and equipment checked in.  Here I am waiting for a check in agent to assist me.  At Hollywood airport you can actually book a flight and become a passenger on one of their planes for a nominal fee.

Had to walk across the tarmac to the plane but it was okay.  Nepal isn't a place many travel to daily  so its not so crowded.  My plane awaits!! Bon Voyage.

DAY 2:

After almost a days journey by plane, train and hike I have arrived in Nepal at the base of Mount Everest. (Note to self: Never bring suitcases to a climb again)

Walking to my hotel room through this small beautiful village.
Imagine my surprise when I checked in to my room only to find there was no bed.  I mean I know everyone wants to hike, but a good nights rest on a decent bed would have been nice.  I didn't even bother to unpack. I just threw down my sleeping bag and slept directly on the floor.

DAY 3:
The next afternoon I went to the local tea shop to meet the locals and get advice on the climb from the locals.  I was warned there were many treacherous spots and to be respectful of the lives lost and of the mountain it self.

After a small breakfast at the local tea shop.  I decided to take a balloon ride to see the mountain.  Really it did no justice to see how big this thing actually was.
Day 4:  I started my ascent to the last temple before climbing to the top of Everest.
I look over the valley hoping that I will once again see this beautiful mountain and make it home.  I try to soak up as much as I can so that I have great memories to take with me as I climb.
This is the summit of Everest.  This is the place I am trying to reach.
DAY 5:
One quick pose before I go.....and WE'RE OFF!!!

Day 7:
Undaunted by the mountain, this shakey unstable rope bridge made me nervous.
After a full 2 Days journey I finally reached base camp 2.  This was most welcome as I slept for 2 days resting and regenerating from the previous few days hike.

I was so tired I didn't even feel the cold air wooshing through the tent.  There was a blizzard as I slept.

 Still Sleep!!!

Finally something to eat I was starved.

After eating I took a nap but the dream was horrible.  I dreamt I was hiking with a friend.  He was holding my hand but he turned to look at me and let my hand go while I was on an incline.  In my dream I slipped and feel and my friend he left me there. What an awful dream!!!
After 4 more days of hard climbing and a lot of near miss.....
I have reached the SUMMIT!!!  Doing the impossible.!!! HORRAY!!

Though cold, I felt so accomplished reaching the peak of this mountain.  And I sit and reflect on my journey and life in general.

Instead of getting down the easy way this is how I chose to get down. I chose a climb of faith to get up the mountain and took a giant leap of faith to get down.  I saw everything I could possibly see with Everest, the good and the bad.  ( Although I didn't get to see the mythological Yeti) Now that I have been to the top of the world the rest should be easy.  SEE YOU SOON AND TRAVEL ON!!
